Yerba Buena Island, CA
Early adventures and slipstreams on a San Franciscan hidden gem
Yerba Buena is a former naval and active coast guard installation located in the middle of the San Francisco Bay. The bay bridge connects the city of San Francisco and the east bay with the island as the mid point. In 2013, a light sculpture known as “the bay lights” was added and now gives the bay bridge its iconic electric feel. If you visit the island and park your car, you can find various holes in the fences overlooking each side of the bridge used by photographers to capture late night long exposures and early morning sunrises.
